About Dr. Anthony
Young
Dr.
Young is one of only a few dentists
in Illinois to complete dual
specialty training in both
orthodontics (e.g. braces) and
prosthodontics (e.g. bridges and
dentures). He now limits his
practice to orthodontics. He also is
one of the few area orthodontists
with extensive training in the use
of functional orthopedic appliances
(FOAs), which help treat improper
bites and prepare a child's mouth
for braces.
He is
a member of the American Association
of Orthodontists and has been a
clinical instructor at the
University of Chicago's Zoller
Dental Clinic and the Loyola School
of Dentistry. Dr. Young graduated
from Loyola University School of
Dentistry where he also earned a
Master of Science degree and two
certificates of specialty. He has
been in private practice since 1981
and has treated thousands of
children and adults. Dr. Young's
commitment is to provide the highest
quality orthodontic care for you and
your family. Orthodontics
contributes to increased
self-esteem, fostering an enhanced
positive self-image.
An
orthodontic specialist since 1980,
Dr. Young serves as a teacher for
his patients. He listens to your
needs, teaches you about your
condition, and helps you make
informed decisions. Dr. Young
believes happy patients are fully
informed patients. Questions and
comments are encouraged at all
times. The office atmosphere is
casual, friendly and stress-free.
Office Facts
To
ensure we reserve enough time for
each patient, visits to our office
are by appointment. Please allow
approximately one hour for your
initial consultation. In case of
difficulty during treatment, Dr.
Young can be paged. In most cases
either he or an orthodontic
technician will return your call in
less than an hour. If the situation
is urgent, we will arrange to see
you the same day.
We
also make the insurance/payment
process as easy as possible for you.
As a service to you, we can complete
your insurance forms and forward
then directly to your provider.
Convenient payment plans span the
course of treatment and offer
several customized options,
including a no down-payment option.
Consulting with Dr. Young
Dr.
Young agrees with the recommendation
of the American Association of
Orthodontists (AAO) that an
orthodontist evaluate youngsters by
the age of seven, even if there is
no obvious problem. If a noticeable
problem exists before then, a
consultation should be arranged.
Both of these recommendations take
best advantage of a child's growth
years.
Teenagers and adults often consult
with an orthodontist to improve the
appearance of their teeth, if their
bite changes, and when considering
orthognathic (jaw) surgery.
During your first visit, for which
there is no charge, you'll meet with
Dr. Young to review your health and
discuss your concerns. Dr. Young may
take x-rays to obtain a better view
of your jaws and teeth. After an
exam, Dr. Young will explain
treatment options and expected
outcomes. He will take the time to
help you make the best and most
informed decisions.
Services Rendered
Braces:
Conventional braces and
tooth-colored braces are
available.
Functional Orthopedic
Appliances (FOAs):
These growth stimulating
appliances help lengthen a
growing child's lower jaw to
treat overbites, create more
room for teeth, reduce the
need for tooth extraction
before braces, and often
reduce the time necessary in
braces.
Expansion and Other
Appliances: Many
children have crowded teeth,
cross bites, overbites, deep
bites or underbites that can
be created treated by using
one of a variety of
appliances. Depending on the
child's level of cooperation,
the appliances can be either
removable or cemented.
Reasons to Seek
Orthodontic Treatment:
Overlapping/Crowding:
Straight teeth are easier to
clean, supporting tissues stay
healthier and there is less
discomfort with appropriate
tooth alignment.
Permanent Teeth Erupt
Before Baby Teeth Fall Out:
Children need to be evaluated
if their adult teeth begin
erupting before their baby
teeth have fallen out.
Unusual Jaw
Relationships: Large
overbites with teeth
protruding, receding or
retruded lower jaws, and
mismatched upper and lower jaw
size or shape should be
evaluated. Psychologists have
noted that properly aligned
teeth enhance a child's self
image or self esteem.
Your
oral health is our primary concern.
We look forward to meeting you!
